The New Heart For Shirley scheme is so much more than ‘just a superstore’. As well as all the other shops it will bring to the town there will be a vibrant mix of restaurants/cafes, the new apartments and the retained community users.
Shirley Advance is also placing great emphasis on the new public spaces that will be created within the development.
The new scheme will be pedestrianised at surface level with high quality walkways and open squares. A striking new frontage onto the Stratford Road will announce your arrival in Shirley. In fact, more than 10% of the total area of the development at surface level will be allocated to new high quality public realm. There will be a combination of hard and soft landscaping throughout the development. For example, in the area where the new scheme joins Shirley Park alone, there will be more than £200,000 spent on new high quality landscaping.
Within the public areas we will be making sure that there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the new environment, plus we will be introducing Public Art throughout to really make a difference and to add even more character.
A vibrant mix of retail unit sizes will be built, with a total of up to 20 new shops being created. Ramsdens Chartered Surveyors and Donaldsons have been appointed to advise and act for us in the disposal of these retail units.
