ASDA continues to support the proposals for Shirley Town Centre.
ASDA is the UK’s lowest priced supermarket and has won the Grocer Magazine’s ‘Gold Award’, the industry benchmark for assessing supermarket prices, for the last 12 years.
ASDA is committed to delivering low prices, quality products, great customer service and a wide range of employment opportunities to local communities. ASDA will work with Jobcentre Plus and other local employment agencies, alongside the Government’s Local Employment Partnership, to provide up to 400 jobs for local people.
ASDA is regularly voted one of Britain’s top employers given its flexible working packages and an ongoing commitment to long term career and skills development as well as its pay and benefits schemes.
ASDA colleagues will play an active part in fundraising and volunteer programmes in Shirley.
ASDA is proud to take the lead on making locally sourced goods available in every one of its stores. ASDA is the only supermarket to use a national network of local sourcing hubs to connect small and fine food producers to its regional distribution centres, giving them access to a greater number of stores.
ASDA is constantly reducing the environmental impact of its business. Every penny saved as a result of the efficient operation of its stores is used to ‘rollback’ the prices ASDA customers pay at the checkout. As a result, energy, waste and water savings help save its customers money every day.
The inclusion of a major foodstore within Parkgate has been a key requirement for the regeneration of Shirley Town Centre throughout the course of the project. ASDA will help to draw shoppers back into the central area; shoppers that are currently visiting the existing out-of-town stores.
ASDA will also attract the other retailers required to give Shirley Town Centre the ‘boost’ it needs which in turn will generate even more ‘footfall’ for existing retailers on Stratford Road.
As a result, ASDA will be an integral part of a revitalised and thriving Shirley Town Centre.
